Vernis À Lèvres Lip Stain

Purchased for a gift but when I checked the batch code it was manufactured in April 2018 (Ordered/Received in July 2020) meaning this product can be used for only 9 months from purchase. Kind of disappointed as it is hard to finish a lip product in 9 months (Suggested use period is 12 months on packaging). Would appreciate if sephora sells newly made products that are less than 18 months old... Had this experience last time I purchased YSL lip in different color. But other than that, I’m satisfied with the purchase as I’m fan of YSL products.

What happened??

I loved this color a year ago. Bought the same color, exact same product, and the color is completely different!! Still have some of the original and did a side by side comparison. The colors are different.

Silky, luscious, beautiful lip stain!

This is the best hydrating and silky smooth lip stain ever. Love it how it makes your lips feel alive and beautiful. Go get it girls! I will keep buying it.

Drying and too expensive

I initially fell in love with #46. Not only did it give me the perfect stained red color but it was also very glossy and lasted a long time. I just knew I would love the other colors and got #7 but that turned out to be a mistake. I have pigmented lips and the lighter colors don't work for me. Only the darker colors look right on me but after a couple days of wearing this all day (I only reapplied after eating lunch), my lips became alarmingly dry. My lips were horribly wrinkled and felt as if all the moisture had been sucked out of them. For the price I paid, this is unacceptable so I returned both colors and will stick with my normal lipsticks and lipglosses.

LOVE!

This is one of my absolute favorite lip products! If you want that sublte color with gloss that has minimum transfer this is it. It does not have a sticky feeling like most glosses, keeps my lips hydrated, lasts hours, and gives an amazing color. I will be looking into purchasing additional colors.

New Favorite!

I like it. It is not too glossy and the well-balanced glossiness lasts for a good amount of time. I don't need to constantly put it back so it is pretty convenient. It has good moisture and it colors easily. Will buy more different colors!!

Love the regular glossy lip stains!

I bought shade 46 first, which is a very pretty deep red color. It definitely stains the lips and the glossy part keeps my lips wet looking and hydrated. I love that it lasts all day and even retains the color after eating and drinking. I also bought shade 7 (coral) and 208 (wet nude) which is a pop water version of the gloss. Shades 46 and 7 both perform the same, as in they stain my lips and retain color most of the day. 208, the pop water version, is very sheer and does not stain like the regular glossy lip stains. It also feels less hydrating and does not last on my lips as long as the others. For the regular stains, i highly recommend trying them out. I'd probably skip the pop water ones though.

Not For Me

I really wanted to love this product. Stains the lips perfectly and lasts a long time! The downside though - the smell! I couldn't stand the smell. If you have sensitivity to heavy scents, you should pass on this one.

On the Fence

I'm not a gloss person - feels weird to me and my hair always gets stuck in it. But this was a GWP so I went for it. When I first put it on it felt very thin and wet yet looked really dry and patchy. The color seemed too bright and didn't look right. But after 5 minutes or so it did actually melt into my lips nicely. I sort of forgot I had it on and saw myself in the mirror about 2 hours later and it looked great - translucent and lovely colored - brought out pink in my cheeks! And the smell (which is strong) had worn off and it felt more like a moisturizing chapstick on my lips. So if I could fast forward to the "2 hours later stage" I'd love it.

Not for me

Got this as a sample and was really excited to try it out. The color is beautiful, however I could not stomach the smell or taste of this gloss. I had to wipe it off and it was quite sticky too. Oh well, thank you for the sample.

It's my favourite!!

I use this everyday and I really like it. I could not find any other that is better than this product. but one problem is it last shortly if i just apply this alone. So i use tissue take of some of glossiness and apply again or I apply powder too. However, good thing is the colour is so well match to my face and it doesn't make my lip dry!. I am using number 9 and I want to buy another new #9 because of hygiene of this product and I used more than one year.
