Black Cleansing Oil

Good staple

Not for taking off heavy makeup as first step. The "oil" in name is just description of consistency. Good for removing sebum in morning, or if you just worked out and wanted to have a nice clean face but not feel dried out or itchy afterwards. Normally, I use this in summer, as I have combo skin. I don't use this in winter time since my skin is dry. No matter what season, I start with Tatcha cleansing oil first, then in warmer weather, I put this on my foreo to exfoliate and remove any remaining makeup. This bottle has lasted me over 18 months, and I will repurchase. Removed 1 star because if it had the ability to remove makeup like Tatcha, it'd be perfection.

Meh

This product isnt bad, it gets off makeup ok. But its not what i would consider a cleansing oil. It turns into a sort of mask when you start rubbing it on your face. I will use it up but wouldnt buy it again. I use cleansing oils as my first step to get the majority of my makeup off before using another cleanser and I find this to be just more work than what its worth.

Does not remove my makeup

I've been using facial cleansing oils long before they became mainstream, ~10years, so I've tried my fair share. I don't consider this to be a face oil; somehow it is lathery. My main gripe is that it is NOT effective at removing makeup (which is the reason why I love oil cleansers). I wear light makeup. My cleansing oils usually remove my longwear eyeliner and undereye concealers but after using this, I usually still have most of it still on, maybe slightly smudged- frustrating. Feel bad wasting it so considering using it as bodywash...

Best cleanser for oily/acne prone skin

How can you not love this charcoal cleanser? Not only does it help with calming and fading blemishes, but it also helps control oil production when you lather it into a rich cream mask. No other charcoal cleanser has left me as hydrated as this one. If you add in the fact that its fragrance free, I’ll give it five stars for sure ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

the worst cleansing "oil"

I enjoy trying out new products outside of the staples in my routine and I thought I would give this a cleansing oil a try and treat myself for my birthday. It was a mistake. This is one of the worst cleansing "oils" I have ever tried. The consistency is too think in my opinion to be considered an oil, it is almost like a gel. When applying it to the skin, it feels far too heavy on the skin and anything you have on the skin when applying (ie makeup or sunscreen) feel like a goopy mess when using this oil. I think to use cleansing oils to remove makeup but this oil is not for that. Even when I used it on bare skin it was just TOO heavy. While this did leave you with a fresh clean feel after washing it off, I have used other products in the past that left me with the same feeling that I enjoyed using for more. This product is not with the $30 price tag. I like to use up a product before throwing it away even if I'm not a huge fan but I could not stand using it anymore and threw it away with a decent amount still left in the bottle. I will not be repurchasing!

Great combo/oily cleanse!

This cleanser wasn't for me (I actually returned it) but I'm still giving it 4 stars. I was looking for an oil cleanser as a change of pace from the Ole Henriksen 3-in-1 melting cleanser. I have normal-dry skin and found this mildly drying, just enough that I didn't think using the bottle in the dead of winter would work out well for me. It also does not behave like a traditional oil cleanser; it becomes a rich, dense foam when water is added. This would be a fantastic standalone cleanser if you have true normal or combo to oily skin... it emulsified nicely, took off all my makeup, and rinsed clean without any need for a second cleanser. But if you have dry skin, or if you double cleanse and are looking for an oil/first cleanser, give this a pass and check out the Ole or IT Cosmetics Melting Cleansing Balm.

I love Korean Beauty!!

I love oil cleanser's but this one is special! A little bit goes along way, it kind of foams when you apply it! The smaller bottle is deceiving, I use it 2xs a day still have plenty in the bottle! Takes off waterproof mascara instantly!

Wanted to love this product. The texture was lovely and I really liked the fact there is charcoal in this but it just didn’t cleanse as well as I imagined it would. When a much less expensive gentle cleanser can do better, it’s a no go for me.

I love the ingrediants and they don't irritate my eyes, I have a routine of before oil cleanser of loosening my eye makeup with coconut oil and then washing it off with a cleanser, I love that this contains charcoal and it removes the coconut oil really nicely without stripping my skin or irratating my eyes. would definatly consider repurchase

I actually used this for the first time today. This felt really good on my face, did not burn or irritate my skin. After rinsing with warm water, my face felt extremely clean. I will continue to use this and may buy some of their other products.

Excellent first cleanse!

Excellent cleansing oil. I bought this in Paris at the Erborian store and will continue to purchase through Sephora. This was recommended over the balm by the woman at the shop because she said this *wouldn't* irritate my eyes when trying to get off eye make-up (apparently the balm has some fragrance that could cause irritation). I use this on dry skin as a first cleanse and then emulsify with water and rinse off. It does a great job at removing my stubborn extra waterproof eyeliner and cleans without causing any skin tightening. Alternate this with the Kiehls Midnight Recovery cleansing oil. Highly recommend!
